Best Casual Steakhouse in Bukit Timah - Fat Belly Relaunches This September with a New Look and Refined Menu
Established in 2017, Fat Belly is located in the Bukit Timah neighborhood and focuses on
difficult-to-access, lesser-known cuts of beef and other meats skillfully prepared over
charcoal embers. The casual restaurant takes pride in showcasing an ever-rotating list of
secondary cuts of beef sourced from the best farms around the world.
Celebrating eight years of pushing boundaries with uncommon cuts and soulful plates, Fat Belly opens a new chapter this September. Reopening on 5 September 2025 after a top-to-tail renovation, the Bukit Timah favourite returns with a refreshed interior and an evolved menu — marking both its anniversary and a new era for the brand.
Designed with warmth and intimacy in mind, the new space embraces natural materials, soft lighting, and clean architectural lines. Wood takes centre stage, creating a cocoon of comfort and modernity.
The new menu remains rooted in Fat Belly’s signature style — showcasing uncommon cuts and letting bold flavours shine. From the grill, highlights include the intensely marbled Full Blood Wagyu Denver MS-8/9 ($68++), and the robust, juicy USDA Prime Hanging Tender ($48++) from Harris Ranch.
Other standouts include the Angus Reserve Flat Iron ($28++), priced for its tenderness, and the Full Blood Wagyu Rump Cap MS 9+ ($56++), bringing bold flavour in all the right places.
Familiar favourites also return, such as the Sanchoku Wagyu Burger ($28++), stacked with caramelised onion and pickled cucumber, alongside the newly introduced Karana Jackfruit Patty Melt ($26++) — a spiced, cheesy, tomato-slicked number that just happens to be vegetarian (but no less satisfying).
Starters set the tone, like the Smoked Burratina ($26++) with heirloom tomatoes and balsamic crema, and the Blue Swimmer Crab Cake ($20++) with hand-chopped tartare sauce.
Vegetable-forward sides hold their own, with standouts like the Fried Brussels Sprouts ($14++) glazed in garum caramel and finished with savoury granola, or the Charred Gem Lettuce ($18++) tossed in anchovy vinaigrette and crowned with crispy ham.
Making a long-awaited return is the Creamed Scots Kale ($16++) with brown buttered almonds — a richer, more refined version of the original vegetable side on Fat Belly’s menu from eight years ago.
Desserts round off the experience with the light and airy Signature Tiramisu ($16++), the decadent Hokkaido Chocolate Gateau ($14++), or the refreshing Savarin ($14++) with mango gelée and almond crumble.
Whether revisiting an old favourite or discovering Fat Belly for the first time, guests will find the same unapologetic passion for flavour — now set against a warmer, more welcoming backdrop.
