Movement, Mindfulness and a Moment for Me: Discovering Jfitnest

Wednesday, September 30, 2026

If you're a mum in Singapore, you know the drill. School runs, work deadlines, dinner, bath time, and somewhere in between, a half-cold kopi you forgot you poured. "Me time" often gets pushed to next week, then the week after.

I'm guilty of this too. Between work, my side projects and my daughter, exercise was always the first thing I dropped. So when I came across Jfitnest, a local wellness team that pairs gentle movement with sound healing, I knew I had to share it with you.

Here's what I've learnt the hard way: when mums run on empty, everyone feels it. We get snappier, more tired, and a little less like ourselves. Looking after our own bodies and minds isn't a luxury. It's part of looking after our families.

That's why I love featuring homegrown businesses that make wellness feel doable for ordinary people like us. No intimidating gym floors, no pressure to be super fit. Just a welcoming space to move, breathe and slow down.

Meet Jfitnest

Jfitnest is a Singapore wellness and fitness team founded by Jesq Lee. Jesq started out teaching yoga as Jogalove and is certified in Hatha and Yin yoga, sound therapy, Reiki and rehab therapy.

Until now, most of Jfitnest's work happened behind closed doors: corporate retreats, team building and community events for groups like SAFRA, HomeTeamNS and Mandai Rainforest Resort. They also run monthly wellness sessions for seniors at Cheng San CC. Their sessions are "omakase-style", curated experiences where you trust the team to plan something good.

The exciting news? Since September, Jfitnest has opened weekly classes to the public at Highland Centre, near Serangoon and Kovan MRT. Follow @jfitnest on Instagram for a peek at their sessions.

So, What Exactly Is a Sound Bath?

If you're picturing a bathtub, you're not alone. I did too! A sound bath has nothing to do with water. You lie comfortably on a mat while the instructor plays singing bowls and other instruments around the room. The tones and vibrations "wash" over you, hence the name.

You don't have to do anything except lie there and listen. Many people describe it as a deep, calming reset, like the stillness right before you drift off to sleep. Some even doze off, and that's perfectly okay.

At Jfitnest, the sound bath is paired with either gentle stretching or yoga. You loosen up tight shoulders and stiff hips first, then sink into the sound. It's a lovely combination, especially if your body is used to hunching over a laptop or carrying a little one around all day.

This is where Jesq's background really shines. With training in sound therapy, Reiki and rehab therapy alongside her yoga certifications, she brings a thoughtful, whole-body approach to each session.

Why It Works for Busy Mums

It's gentle. The classes are beginner-friendly and kept to small groups. You don't need to be fit or flexible to join, which is perfect if you're easing back into exercise after years of putting everyone else first.

It's rest, not just a workout. A sound bath means lying down while singing bowls wash over you, paired with stretching or yoga. For mums running on empty, it's the kind of recovery we rarely give ourselves.

It fits around family life. Friday's 9.30am class slots in nicely after school drop-off. The Sunday 11am session works when someone else can watch the kids for an hour.

It's an hour that's truly yours. No phone, no to-do list, no one calling "Mummy!" Just you, your breath and the sound of the bowls.

It's a chance to connect. Motherhood can feel surprisingly lonely, even when you're never alone. Small group classes are a gentle way to meet other people in the neighbourhood who are also making time for themselves.

More Than Weekly Classes

The public classes are just one part of what Jfitnest does. Their fitness menu is wide: partner and core yoga, Pilates, HIIT, bootcamp, kickboxing, TRX, Piloxing, Zumba, chair fit and personal training. On the wellness side, there's breathwork, guided meditation and Reiki alongside their sound healing sessions.

They also run lifestyle workshops like resin art, candle and soap making, and personal styling. I can already imagine a mums' morning out, a girls' gathering or a company wellness day built around one of these.

If you're planning something for your workplace, parents' group or community, Jfitnest designs custom sessions for groups of all sizes. It's worth dropping them a message to see what they can put together.

  • How to join: Register on WhatsApp at 8719 6632. Spots are first come, first served.

Tips for Your First Sound Bath

  • Dress comfortably and bring socks or a light layer. You'll be lying still, and air-con can get chilly.
  • Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in without rushing.
  • Tell your instructor if you're pregnant, postnatal or have any injuries, so they can adjust the stretches.

Carve Out the Time

We spend so much energy caring for everyone else. Taking an hour for ourselves isn't selfish. It's how we refill the cup.

If you've been craving a slower, kinder way to move, Jfitnest's weekly sessions are a lovely place to start. Groups are small, so WhatsApp them early to save your spot.

Have you tried a sound bath before? Tell me in the comments. I'd love to hear how other mums are making time for themselves.
